Feeding is the important routine which has to be carried out daily. The standard sized kibbles that are available at the grocery store might not be suitable for the small dogs that it is very necessary to find the one which fits the smaller mouth. Canned foods (soft) are too are ideal for the small dogs.
Dogs require a safe place for potty and for doing exercise. Fences offer safety for larger dogs, but for small dogs it might not be sufficient as the large gaps can allow them to pass through easily. Moreover the fences might not offer overhead safety from big hawks which can carry small puppies and dogs that small dogs might require a covered kennel to meet their requirements.
It is good to house train the small dogs just like the larger ones as they too see other pack of dogs. Most of the small dogs are pampered that there are more possibilities of getting spoilt, in order to make them behave properly, the owner should train the small dogs so that they respond to the rules.
Small dog needs more grooming care and special grooming tools as they need nail trimming very often than the large dogs. They also should be teeth brushed especially when fed with soft canned diet or food.
